Every report on this site is free to read, and it will stay that way. We do not accept money from readers. The most useful support costs nothing: it is attention, records and names.
Ways to help
- Share a report. Every article has a share button, and our Facebook page posts each one. A share from a neighbor reaches people we cannot.
- Put your name on a question. Become a volunteer public representative. Michigan law requires a name and address on a records request, and some officials will not answer an anonymous sender.
- Send a tip, a document or a correction to contactus@gcwhistleblower.com. Tell us if you want your name withheld.
- Go to a meeting. Public bodies behave differently when residents are in the room. Tell us what you saw.
How the site is paid for
- No reader payments. We do not take donations, memberships or subscriptions, and there is no paywall. If that ever changes, it will be announced on the About page first.
- Advertising is labeled. When ads run on this site they are placed automatically by an advertising network, are marked as ads, and are kept apart from the reporting. Advertisers have no contact with our reporting and no say in what is covered.
- No income yet. As of Oct. 2, 2026 the site has earned no money and is not yet a registered business. Labeled ads may begin soon, once the ad network approves the site. We will update the About page when income begins.
- We do not take payment for coverage. Not from a business, a candidate, a party or a public body, and we do not sell or publish legal notices.
- Ad networks use cookies. What that means for you, and how to turn off personalized ads, is on the privacy page.
